It's all because of Hari Raya

My parents were here last Wednesday till Saturday. I was very glad that I managed to take my father to the mosque to perform Tarawikh despite his unwellness. We brought him a chair so he could solat comfortably.
I was especially tired today that I could not perform solat Tarawikh at the mosque and I regretted it. It's not the same as performing the solat at home.Tomorrow will be another busy day. Everything has to be finalised before going back to Baling. And to make it even busier...I forgot to take my chocolate cake at the office which means...After going to Zue's house tomorrow, then deliver the cheese cake to Ustzah Sharifah, I have to rush to Changlun. Then, back to Jitra to collect my daughters' baju raya at Jasmin's. Huh! Huh! Huh! (panting...)

Sesudah Suboh

I was waiting for Subh when I saw the video clip of the 'azan' from Masjidil Haram on TV3. Suddenly all the memories of Umrah in Mecca last April began to flow in. Yes, I long to be there again, to seek refuge in the blessing of Allah. My peserverence was fully tested. But I thanked Him for giving me the patience that I never had while I was there. I never thought that I had the determination and the power to control myself and overcome all the difficuties and sufferings handling all sort of problems at the holy place. It's because He was there with me all the time. I could especially feel the presence of Him at the most 'lonely' days there. He sent me some 'angles' to soothe and guide me till I was able to stand back on my feet. The strength that I got back made me think back me the person that I have been. I realised that I should never rely on others especially in time of difficulties because only I can help myself. And only Allah will there for me. Trust me.

* I saw an old video clip of my Adek and his fellow 'nasyiders' in Firdaus at the end of 'Laman Nuraini' in TV3 just now. They all looked so naive and so young!

No title

I feel like fainted today. Too many datelines to meet by this week. My file, coursework marks, classes, students, kuih raya, students' programmes, my home, my children, my clothes, bills, my parents...Gosh! banyaknya. Like there is no fullstop. Hmmm, i'be better go to bed now..Hum this song with me... !

And I love you so...(Don McLean)

And I love you so
People ask me how
How I've lived til' now..
I tell them I don't know
I guess they understand
How lonely life has been
Life began again
The day you took my hand
And yes I know...
How lonely life can be
The shadows follow me
And the night won't set me free
But I don't let
The evening get me down..
Now that you're around with me
And you love me too
Your thoughts are just for me
You set my spirit free
I'm happy that you do
The book of life is green ..
Once the page is read
All but love is dead
That is my belief
And yes I know
How loveless life can be
The shadows follow me
And the night won't set me free..
but I don't let the evening get me down
Now that you're around with me...
And I love you so...
People ask me how
How I've lived till now
I tell them I don't know

Nite2 everyone!

Khairil Johari Johar - Sepasang Kurung Biru *Raya Song

My favourite. Tonight is the beginning of the last 10 nights of Ramadhan. I rememeber performing the Qiamulail and Tarawikh with my classmates more than 20 years ago in the school jymnasium. We would be putting our 'sejadah' in a very long row after 'asr' to book our place. Sometimes we would take take our "pet sis" to pray with us. As I have none, usually, I would just 'grab' along any of my junior dormmmates. Leha, Nita would always be my 'victims'. It was nostalgically fun..

And like a small child, I was kissed repeatedly my ailing mum. Dad gave no response at first but smiled the next day when I bought him a radio cd player.

Simple Barbeque Chicken

Ingredients
One whole chicken (cut into large pieces)
1 cup of Soy Sauce
2 tablespoon of Vinegear
2 tablespoon of Sesame oil
4 inches of Ginger (pounded)
1 tablespoon of honey (optional)

Instructions
Marinade the chicken with all items and leave it for at least half an hour. Put it in the oven and let it cook for about 45 minutes. If you don't have an oven you can just put it on a flat frying pan glazed with cooking oil. Add some sliced onions and capsicum to spice it up.

SEPTEMBER 16 2008

While many people were waiting for the "D Day" today, I was celebrating my only son's birthday in silence. Muhammad Asyraf bin Ayoib was borne today, 16 years ago in Badjan Clinic Ipoh. He was borne through the 'natural channel' without me having any tear or stitches. I think it's something miracle.

The most striking feature of Asyraf is that he looks like my late grandfather. The skin colour tone, the face and the overall look. I know I missed my grandfather when I looked at him. And everyone was very happy indeed especially my parents. It was their first male borne too since there was no male species in the family before except my father. My father was the most excited. He even 'donate' some bananas to the mosque nearby as soon as he got the news. However, there was a very sad incident happened on that day too. A lady who was also given birth to her first boy died after giving birth to her baby. Her bed was just right next to me. And I became very emotional every time I heard the baby cried. I could feel that the baby was actually cring because he was longing for the mother.

Anyway, raising Asyraf was really tough because I have never had any experience handling a baby boy. And to make it worse Asyraf himself was a very irritable and cranky baby. I didn't have enough sleep when I was raising him due to his 'unsettled' nature. Luckily Amirah who was only one year old at that time was easy to take care off and she slept through the night with her father.

But now Asyraf has changed so much since he went to the boarding school. He is no more a coward and scared of being alone like before. He's independent and most helpful when he's around. Asyraf also has some of my father and my talents, even much better than me actually. He loves to draw and he's excellent in making sketces and illustrations. He told me that he really wants to be an architect. And, I'm going to do my best to make sure his dream comes true.

Well, Happy Birthday to you, son. Hope you'll be healthy, wealthy and wise in many years to come. SELAMAT HARI MALAYSIA!!! (Hopefully we could celebrate your birthday during holiday next year onwards just like Najihah's@31 August).

A very disturbing news

Robbers killed in shootout

SHAH ALAM: Two armed robbers who stabbed their woman hostage to death were killed in a shootout when a police team stormed into the burning bedroom in an attempt to rescue the woman.

Two other robbers, who were trying to force their way into the house, were arrested in the 4.45am incident at the D’Kayangan housing estate here.

Housewife Raja Noriana Raja Ahmad, 41, her husband and their two daughters were having their sahur (early morning meal before fasting) and saying their morning prayers when the robbers struck.

The two robbers entered the house through the downstairs toilet.

State CPO Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said: “The woman’s husband escaped through the front door unharmed while their two girls, aged 18 and 20, ran upstairs and jumped down from the back room window.

Touching moment: Puteri Akila kissing her sister Erika’s hand before she is whisked off to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang. The two sisters jumped from the first floor of their house to flee from armed robbers who broke into their home early Tuesday morning. Erika is believed to have suffered spinal injuries. “The girls suffered leg injuries and one hurt her back,” he said.

The woman was taken to the master bedroom upstairs by the two robbers.

“We received an emergency call at 4.45am from the victim’s husband and a patrol car in the area responded.

“When police reached the scene they managed to nab two of the suspects who were outside the house and called for back-up when they realised that there were two armed men in the house,” he added.

DCP Khalid, who arrived at the scene later, said police later freed a security guard who was tied up in front of the house.

He said the police told the robbers to surrender but they refused. During negotiations, the robbers demanded a car and wanted their accomplices to be released.

“My men saw them attacking the woman and set fire to the bedroom where they were holed up in.

“When negotiations failed after three hours we had to act fast to try and rescue the victim,” he added.

Police forced their way into the house and in the ensuing shootout killed the two robbers.

The woman, who had stab wounds on her throat, back and wrist, was found slumped on the bed bleeding.

She was still alive when police rushed her to the hospital. However, she died at 9.25am.

“We do not know the exact cause of death yet and will wait for the post-mortem report,” he said.

DCP Khalid said police recovered a .32 Smith & Wesson revolver in the house.

It had been reported stolen from a senior government officer’s house in Section 3 on Sept 3.

The victim and her family are the only ones living in the new housing estate.

Police identified the dead robbers as Abd Sugiono Prio and Mojib Ridwan.

DCP Khalid said police found an expired passport and an Indonesian identity card.

“We believe all the suspects, in their 20s, have been involved in at least six robberies in the Klang Valley and Negri Sembilan,” he said.

DCP Khalid said this was the second incident at Raja Noriana’s new house since her family moved in one-and-a-half months ago.

He said the first incident was an attempted robbery on Sept 1, in which they believed their former maid had a role.

Asyraf and Abah

"Bu, Ibu ada nak mai Aloq Staq tak?
"Why?"
"Asyraf dah lama tido tak pakai selimut. Sejuk sangat kat sini. Asyik pakai kain pelikat je. Tuala Asyraf tertinggal kat rumah. Tolong bawak selimut dan tuala, boleh? Please jangan cakap dengan ayah. Ayah mesti marah punya."
"Hmmm..Where is your blanket?"
"Hilang."
"Benda besaq macam tu boleh hilang?"
" Mana Asyraf tau"

"When was the last time u saw the blanket?"
"On the bed"
"Hilang atas katil?"
"Tak tau. Balik dari cuti hari tu tengok2 dah tak ada.
"Astag......"
"Bawak makanan sama ya
?"

And so I drove to Sek Men Agama Kedah, soaked and wet due to heavy rain while buying food at the Pasar Ramadhan. As I was about to pass the "pintu gerbang" at Titi Gajah, I looked at the displayed lighted clock and date. It's 4.15pm and the date is 06092008. Gosh! Did I forget something?

"Is today Abah's birthday?"
"Ya le..." My youngest sister replied to my sms.

So, as usual, I was the last one to call Abah and wish him....

Should I thank my son?

4th of Ramadhan...

Today, I'm going to cook a special fried rice. I just bought this "ayam panggang" from a stall that is recommended by a friend and 2 sLices of "daging masak kicap" for Anisah as she's allergey to chicken meat. Adding to that are some "cucoq" and "laksa siam" to food testing. I wonder what is Adilah cooking for tonight and what are my students having for their breakfast. Hope it's something delicious and healthy....

1st Ramadhan this year

Today, 5 years ago, my most beloved Tok passed away. He was the best grandfather I've ever had. Although he is not with us anymore, he is still very much present in my heart. He is the factor that brings me and my cousins together. He took care of me when I was small, and after I grew up he still told everyone in the village that he loved me more than any of his grandchildren. Dear cousins, please don't hate me...
