Before we say goodnite...

I was about to blog just now when I received a ym from Mukmin, my former student who's studying medicine in Cyberjaya. He was worried about his studies although he's an A-list student. He now realised that English is very important and he is struggling to cope with it. So, I told him to read English newspaper everyday. Make it a habit and don't say, "Tak sempat." And before I could send the words, he already said, "Tak sempat." That is Mukmin...funny as usual.

Ok, What did I do today? The whole day I was at home after coming back from the market. I have a visitor this weekend. Najihah's friend named Izzati who is always curious with my cooking at the kitchen. Last time I received Yusof, Asyraf's friend. He's very helpful and studious. I was not very worried when he's here. Amirah also once brought some friends. Not 1 or 2 or but 5! That was a lot of hands to handle but they were very efficient in the kitchen. They helped me alot in the kitchen. I don't know what Amirah told her friends but they kept on begging her to take them to our house. Well, I don't know what to say...

So, after lunch, I found my afternoon was borrringgg!!!I switched on the tv but none was interesting except for a Thai movie at ABO, Channel 952 called,"The Noodle Boxer". It was hillarious. After that I watched my favorite anime, "My Neighbour, Totoro" who managed to make me smile and giggle with my children. Then it was borrringg...again. So, I took a nap.

After Asr' I began to wander around the house again...what shall I do(although there were a lot of housechores to do, but I just couldn't be bothered about it today) ? Suddenly, this idea came up. Exercise! Why not? But I don't like the bicycle. Then, I began to search for my favourite hot number cd and my cd player. I slipped into my sports out fit, turn on the music outloud and I danced! What a relief. Feel so energized and alive ( I forgot about my sprained ankle). It was only about 20 minutes but I was sweating all over.

Now, it's bedtime (although I still have a lot to say here - my Gamarjobat trip to kl, my work, my new time table, my music, my movies, my books, my..... (the list go on). I need to lie down like everyone else who has already gone into the dreamworld.

p/s: I wish Totoro could take me to his nest and let me lie on his stomach till I fall asleep. Hmmm....Bestnya!

Have you ever felt this way?

Just a thought..

Besides some friends stopped by at my cubic today, no one else came. At the moment I'm so busy preparing, organizing the English Language Camp for the 'underdogged' students this year. The participants are going to be the students who got gred 5 & 6 for the SPM English paper. I hope everything will run smoothly and both the students and lecturers will enjoy the camp.

We will be having one week break starting next week but I will be spending it in KL-marking students' exam paper. I didn't realize it will be done during my children's exam week. If I knew, I would have cancelled the offer and take it next year. Hmm, it's too late now...But I think it's ok. At least I get the experience and the money!

This occassion too reminds me of something else...my 3x sprained ankle. It's been months and the pain is sometimes more excrutiating than ever. I'm suppossed to let it rest, no walking or driving for a few days. I guess I can let my ankle get some comfort in Pan Pac KLIA next week. I know I won't get it at home...

Tomorrow I'm going to have a meeting with the speaker for the Language Camp, Mr Fairuz. Not only he can teach, he can sing too. And now, he can deliver a talk. Wow! That's really something. A multitasked lecturer. People always like to find serious looking professors, teachers who are expert at their field like English to give motivational talk. Well, I want my students to enjoy listening to the talk as well, not just sit and busy smsing their friends. I don't want the talk to sound too academic. I think Mr Fairuz fits the description and he can do job the well. But somehow I have the feeling that you still need some goodluck wish from us, MR Fairuz...

MY STUDENTS

My students are struggling with their exam this week. I hope you will all do well and succeed with flying colours. I have many good memories with you all although we've been together only a short while.

I always have this 3 stooges coming to see me almost every other day. And I regret I could not invite them for lunch, tea or dinner at my house. I plan to do so at least before they leave the college next year.
Arif, Hajar and Ning(a very friendly chinese girl who speaks Malay very well and fasts during Ramadhan)

And I also this brainy 'Naruto' in class...Amirul from my physics class.

Nasywa who became quite close to me since the death of her father.

My account students whose english proficiency is average but very obedient and courtious. Just look at how they lined up to sign for their attendance.

It's different from my science students especially my Physical Science students...

My students from batch 2003 till now, 2008 are all unique and special. I have Farid from F1E9 who could play guitar beautifully. Fahmilah, the girl who gave me a shock of a lifetime when she thanked me in front of all kmkians during a student concert in 2003.
There were also a group of physical science students from F1E4 (batch 2004/2005) who always made noise and jokes in class(physics students are always 'brutal'). Can't recall their names but i can still remember the faces. Once, this Chinese boy gave a trivial question to his classmates, "Why did Superman where his underwear 'outside'? Before anyone could answer, the class turned into a comedy theatre...Everyone was laughing out loud. Ahh...those were the days...
That year also,we had our first drama competition and my 'Hayat' students led by the talented and confident Nuraini. We managed to go to the finals but did not get any major places. I remember the whole class really sticked together during the competion except for Alif Chong, the rich boy from KL who always arranged some chairs at the back of the class so he could sleep on them. Sweet Puteri Alia was also from this class.

Batch 2005/2006. This was the year where I got the noisiest and most havoc class in the world! H1E6. They were only 5 boys in that class but they were just as vocal as the girls. I was always at the top of my voice with this class. I got to know the multitalented Farhan or better known as 'Alang' among his friends. Fuad, 'soft' but very helpful. Navin, the E-Club president, Aishah, the skateboarder etc...etc... They had put me into the limelight by showing a very funny and excellent performance during that year drama competition. It's worth the effort when they won the first prize plus the best actress award. Farhan could have won the best actor award. It's just that luck was not on his side.

Then, I went to teach the underpriviledged PDT students. Mukmin (you're reading this Mukmin?), Bukhari, Amir,Khairul, Aslam, Zainal, Farah, Shamil (who can rap Nasyid songs), Nisa' and others (too many to mentioned). I had the whole year of fun with them. With their Bayang Kulit activities and yes! We went to see the first Gamarjobat show together, remember? It was one of the most memorable days of my life.

I was hoping to take my next PDT students to watch Gamarjobat again but it came too late. But I didn't want to disappoint them. So, we had PDT Grand Dinner this year. And it was just as memorable for many of us. We had some stage performances and a show by Nasyid Group, Firdaus who told me that for the first time ever, they sang english songs in their performace. Not bad, huh?

Well, life must go on...i hope to get a new batch of students who are just as havoc, creative, fun to be with, unique and intelligent like my former students. But, if you don't, I'll accept you al anyway...

* Suddenly, I remembered Faiz, this quiet and shy camera boy from B1E2 who once stopped by at my cubicle just to give me a KIT KAT. "You need a break, madam" . That was really something..

Sin Chan - Belajar Bahasa Inggeris

Then, I turned to Sin Chan for help, and too good to be true...it helps! Not much but it managed to put the smile back on my face...
(for a while)

Well....

A friend sms me last night,

"K.Yong,if u r feeling down, try listening to Anuar Zain's I'm The Lucky One on a headphone. It definitely put a smile on my face :) Hope it works for you."

I managed to listened to the song only today and guess what? I'm not the lucky one. Sorry... (Id rather listen to Matahariku-Agnes Monika)

Well, my sun is not this happy, but what the heck!

Sorry seems to be the hardest word

Kringgg...

"Ibu, where are you?"
"Sorry Amirah, can't see you this evening."
"I've been waiting. You said you wanted to come and see me."
" The old car is not working. couldn't start the engine. And Ayah has gone out stationed with the Avanza."
"So, are you coming to see me?"
"I'll try tonight after ayah arrived home. Couldn't get help from anywhere else"
" But please bring along the things that I've ordered."
"ok. I'll come around 8-9 tonight."

At 7.30 pm...an SMS was sent to a mobile phone

"Ibu tak dapat mai malam ni. Ayah masih di Haadyai. Mungkin sampai dalam pukul 10 mlm. Ibu akan datang esok tengahari."

And I hope she's not crying...

One of the suspenceful moments in my life

It was 5 pm in Changloon

It was raining heavily

It was 5.30 in Napoh. The road was flooded with water and the cars were quequing

My foot was hurting badly but it was still on the car paddle.

It was already late to fetch my daughters from school.
And the car is nearly out of gas!(And I had to switch off the air-conditioner)

But God helped me...

Although I was half an hour late when I reached Jitra, I managed to fuel up my car just on time.
(phew!!!)

The story of a father

One rainy day, a crippled haggard looking old man was waiting for his middle-aged old daughter by the roadside of the highway. A few minutes later, a bus stopped by the road, a few yards from the old man. A woman dressed in stripped blouse and black pants stepped off the bus and rushed to the old man. She took his hands and kissed him on both cheeks. They were wet and cold as ice. She touched his shirt and it was all wet. She nearly cried but she tried to brush away the tears and put on a fake smile.

"You shouldn't have come. It's raining"

"Takde sapa nak makan rambutan ni...Banyak sangat."em>

"You're all wet. You'll get sick"

"Tak pe...Abah ok."

"I bought u some fish and sweet pau. Regards to mum and sis."

"OK. Abah pegi dulu."

And the old man went off with his old motorcycle. The woman stepped back into the bus. The rain has subsided and the sunshine began to show its face.

Her eyes were soaked with water. She was 'raining'.

THE END

Boyzone- No Matter What

To my students who will be leaving me in a few days...One semester is just not enough.

No matter what they tell us
No matter what they do
No matter what they teach us
What we believe is true

No matter what they call us
However they attack
No matter where they take us
We'll find our own way back

I can't deny what I believe
I can't be what I'm not
I know I'll love forever
I know, no matter what

If only tears were laughter
If only night was day
If only prayers were answered
Then we would hear God say

No matter what they tell you
No matter what they do
No matter what they teach you
What you believe is true

And I will keep you safe and strong
And sheltered from the storm
No matter where it's barren
A dream is being born

No matter who they follow
No matter where they lead
No matter how they judge us
I'll be everyone you need

No matter if the sun don't shine
Or if the skies are blue
No matter what the end is
My life began with you

I can't deny what I believe
I can't be what I'm not
I know, I know
I know this love's forever
That's all that matters now
No matter what

*No matter what guys, just move on with your life...

HELP!

A conversation at Sri Atap Restaurant in Jitra.

One evening, a mother was entertaining her two small daughters at a restaurant after work.

"Anisah tau tak sapa bagi nama Anisah?"
"Tau...Ayah."
"Ayah habaq kat Ibu, Ayah nak bubuh nama anak yang no 5 ni. Ayah takbagi orang lain bagi nama. Ayah nak bagi nama Anisah...Anisah tau apa maknanya?"
"Tau..."
"Apa maknanya?"
"Mesra, kemesraan kut..."
"Sebab tu Anisah kena jadi mesra. Kena senyum selalu. Tak boleh marah-marah. Tak boleh garang-garang."
"Kakak selalu cengih ,tau? Suka marah-marah"
"Mana ada?"
"Ya! Tu...kakak selalu marah Syitah. Buat Syitah. Itu bukan mesra tu!"
"Mana ada! MaSyitah yang suka buat kakak marah."
"Tu, tengok bu...kakak dok marah je.."
"Mana ada? Itu bukan marah. Itu cakap kuat je!"
"Dah! Cepat makan, dah nak malam ni..."

And we left the restaurant while it was still raining...

The jewels of my life.

Picture taken on the 1st of Syawwal at my mum-in-law's house

p/s: Anyone's missing, 'Adilah?

Another boring Saturday

First of all, Today is another boring 'hari cuti berganti'. Although i only had 2 classes and was actually glad to meet my students after a long break but because we're supposed to rest today as it's a Saturday, my mind was only 20% at work (Sorry,Boss...). Then, hubby was off again to KL till Monday night. And of course that means I have to rush here and there since yesterday till Monday. Hmm...

I had Adikm and his housemate stopping by tonight on his way back from Kuching-KL-Changlun. He gave me the Cheese Kek Lapis that I ordered and an Ikan Terubuk Masin. Yes, of course the cake was moist and delicious. I'm going to bring some to work to give my friends some bites. TQ Adikm. So far, you have never failed to please me with your Kek Lapis Sarawak.

Well, before I penned off, I would like to tell you all...after consuming dozens of pills for days, today i oficially declared that I quit! And, the funny thing is that I feel a lot better today than a few days ago!

Nite2 everyone!

Adikm once gave me and my family this kek lapis. Yummy, yummy, yummy!!!

Ayat-Ayat Cinta

Just watched the movie at TV3 just now. Although it's a bit confusing, the movie had a very strong storyline. Yes, it's a love a story but a different kind of love story. The dialogues were sometimes very thought provocating and stimulating. At times they made me gasped with wonder and began to think whether I have enough imaan in me. And of course Aishah is every woman I want to be. I couldn't help myself breaking into tears along with her when she heard her husband said that he loved Maria too. Can I be like 'Aishah? I really don't know....

"Tuhan bukan untuk orang yang beriman sahaja,
Tuhan juga untuk orang-orang yang berdosa."

Wow! That's a real strong dialogue that you can never get in any of our local movies"
2 thumbs up!

In this post I would like to wish Eid Mubarak to my students, old and new, good and bad, beautiful and handsome, smart and witty and all other adjectives that could describe their colourful personalities.
I am sorry for not having proper classes with you all lately due to my illness. I hope you all understand the situation and I 'll try to give you my best as soon as I return to class next week.

Regards from your Madam

On the 7th day of Syawwal

Anisah's birthday pulut kuning cake

Bunga Api show time!

After 10 years of living in JB, finally, Makcik Pe'an came back to her roots.

I'm now at my most miserable period of my life. I felt sick as soon as I reached home from Ipoh. Till now, I'm with lots of tissues and medicines. I developed a high fever after so many years, now flu and terrible headache. Arghh...God is really testing my patience.

Hari Raya in Baling was ordinary. Hari Raya in Ipoh on the 2nd day of Syawwal was extraordinary. Why? Because celebration only started as soon as me and my family stepped out of the car. My parents suddenly began to make preparations. Before this everyone in the house fell ill (two days before Hari Raya.)

My Hari Raya in Baling and Ipoh were filled with laughters and joyous moments of my little nephews and nieces. They were extremely happy to be able to play with all sorts of fire crackers bought my husband. How I wish I was small again....

p/s: oh yes! Anisah's birthday this year falls on Hari Raya Aidilfitri itself.
